Money stolen from cat shelter in Kansas

Shame! Purrfect Pets is one of the few no-kill cat shelters in the Kansas City region. They receive no government money, and survive through adoption fees and donations. Purrfect Pets has large vet bills, since they try to heal sick cats instead of put them down.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - An Overland Park cat shelter was hit by thieves Sunday afternoon, leaving the shelter lighter on cash. Police say they were called out around 3 p.m. to the Purrfect Pets cat shelter in the 9500 block of Metcalf Avenue inside of the Metcalf South Shopping Center on reports of a theft. By the time they arrived, the suspects, who the store’s owner believes were three girls ages 11-13, had left the scene with $310 worth of boxes and cash from the shelter. Authorities confirmed they were investigating the incident, but did not offer any suspect information.
