“We would greatly appreciate it if certain individuals in the United Kingdom would refrain from telling people that laws are already in place against animal crush video. There is no specific law against animal crush video, let alone one that places the depictions in severe crime category, where they belong. United Kingdom laws governing basic obscenity are not sufficient enough against animal crush video. These videos should be categorized in the same bracket as child pornography. In 2002 the U.K. recorded its first crush video case. A man and 3 women from the Stoke-on-Trent area pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges and conspiracy to publish obscene material. Craig Chapman, 27, Christine Besford, 25, Sarah Cooke, 21, and Theraza Smallwood, 22, pleaded guilty to crushing a kitten, a guinea pig and a several mice. They essentially got a slap on the wrist under the basic obscenity law. It was a relatively small fine and under a year in prison. In contrast, under the Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act of 2010, these 4 perpetrators would have received up to 7 years each in prison and a very hefty fine.”
